529. Some people have a very slippery tongue
-it is amazing what comes out of their mouths sometimes. We all know these people, they may not be malicious, but their irresponsibility with speech gets them into trouble.
I did not back Hillary Clinton because of policy. A secondary yet important reason was that her spoken word was often initially misunderstood. This happens to everyone in the public eye, they get caught when they are tired, have had a couple of beers, or someone overhears them at a private gathering. This incident was none of these but an interview, when speaking must be completely thought out first, which makes excusing these words as just casual very difficult.
Barack Obama has had to explain a couple of statements too, he is human, and we can expect more controversial statements from him to be sure. He appears to be a concise and clear communicator, and has a way of reaching the youngest children, teens and elderly, of all races and religions.
And after the last 8 years of neo con code talkers, it is like healing balm.
