The mind-body connection is an odd thing. People were kidding about it being "too much gall" or "bile," but you know, I wonder. I've certainly heard of very high-maintenance people who've never had a drink or drug in their lives but still had all kinds of problems one would expect to find in people who took more chemicals--Harlan Ellison is/was one, I think (very angry guy). The body produces its own chemistry. Who knows what's been leaking through Ashcroft's system?
That said, if they did find out he's been getting into the hooch after all, it wouldn't exactly stun me with surprise either.
