He went on and on about how Mr. Arar was "known to authorities" and implied he was involved in shady dealings. It's a sad day when a prominent US official, personal friend to a President, can bad-mouth an ordinary guy who has no way to counter such slander.

I really, really hope Mr. Arar's wife wins that Ottawa seat, so the US Ambassador has to smile and be polite to her at civic functions.

Of course, should Mr. Kerry win, we will all be pleased to see a NEW ambassador.
