The path they took; Following the 11th Signal Brigade's journey into Iraq

FORT HUACHUCA - Reveille, the Army's early morning wake-up call, had a different meaning for Staff Sgt. Christopher Gross on March 20, 2003.

Like many soldiers of the 11th Signal Brigade, he would find himself part of what the military calls the spear when the United States began its attack on Iraq a year ago today.

The days of little sleep, not having a hot shower for five months and eating the pre-packaged GI meals were enough. It was nice to come home to a bunch of "honey-dos," things to do for his family, Gross said.

"We did what we train for and we did it well," he said.

God bless the brave men and women that keep our country free.
Thanks for an honest and touching story.
