1. What is it you're complaining about?
It's not clear in the post. Of course I know I take the opposite view from you on the Taiwan issue, but I'm trying to understand this. Is it that the reporter posed the issues in the way it was? Is it really too arguable that the question of the position with regard to the PRC is an crucial one to the people on Taiwan? Of course it figures in the electoral politics. DPP is historically pro-independence. The KMT is not and identifies as Chinese. There are undercurrents of conflict based on conceptions of national identity--some consider themselves Chinese, some Taiwanese.
