6. No Motive in Hollywood Stabbings

After hours of questioning transient Keven Lee Graff, police said today that they still have no motive for the fatal stabbing over the weekend of two Hollywood neighbors, one of whom was beheaded.

"These were obviously very gruesome murders," said Capt. Al Michelena of the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division. "At this point, we haven't found any particular motive. It doesn't appear that he knew the victims. We don't know if he entered the first home to commit a theft or was just in a murderous rage."

The two victims were Robert Lees, one of the first screenwriters to be blacklisted in Hollywood during the McCarthy era, and Dr. Morley Engelson, 69, a physician.
