9. "hiding Enron's true financial condition"
We should take very careful note that this charge is completely unrelated to the fraud perpetrated on California.

This charge, in effect, only addresses Enron/Lay's failure to profit adequately from that fraud. This charge is SEC-related, only having to do with hiding the poor financial performance of Enron - a finacial 'performance' apparently due to not keeping the BILLIONS in proceeds on Enron's own books.

There's nothing yet to indicate that the obscene and criminal manipulation of the energy market itself and the violation of public trust will be addressed.

There's also nothing yet to indicate any prosecution for the laundering and hiding of the BILLIONS in profits, obviously shifted to off-shore corporate entities for the purpose of evading both taxes and accountability.

In other words, the 'message' is that it's OK to rape the public and it's OK to launder the money as long as the resulting financial condition of the criminal corporation isn't hidden from stockholders.
