27. Flight risk...

...the car Janklow was driving belonged to his friend, private investigator Mark Tobias. Things just get murkier and murkier here. More details in the news articles I cited.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

Rep. Bill Janklow was driving 70 to 75 mph Saturday afternoon when his car collided with a motorcycle, killing its driver, a state accident report shows. Janklow told authorities at the accident scene "there was a vehicle in his lane of traffic and he had to make an evasive maneuver to avoid" it, according to the report, which was made available late Wednesday.

"I'm being told by all sorts of people that when you're in a traumatic accident like this you end up seeing and saying all sorts of things," Russ Janklow said.

The posted speed limit on that highway was 55 mph. The motorcyclist/victim was deemed to be traveling at 55-60 mph at the time of collision.
