about his opposition to the war, and his membership in A.N.S.W.E.R. To have them at LEAST cut me some slack and perhaps let me go. It would sound like a plausible plan.

If Berg did though, it might have backfired.

Think about it.

If your dad was a gung_ho pro-war Repug, Your dad might get even more enraged and and scream for revenge after your head got sawed off alive. At least to save face. You might become a martyr.

On the other hand, If your dad was an anti-war activist, your dad could be counted on, and rightfully so, to blame Bush's war machine after you got killed.

I *think* that's what happened. Berg's dad made him a PERFECT victim for their purposes. Afterall, Berg's dad reacted exactly on cue.

Unfortunately it looks like the voices of outrage and revenge have drowned out the voice of Berg's dad. You barely hear anything about him in the media.

Backfired on everybody.
