"New Yorkers were not always behind Reagan"

(AP News Analysis/ The Daily Star/Oneonta, NY/6-11-04/pg11) This interesting article documents the damage that "Reaganomics" did to New York State. It also has interesting quotes: "The purpose of the deficit was to disable the American government, to make it impossible to propose initiatives that had been regularly forthcoming for half a century," Senator D.P. Moynihan said in 1984. "It's breathtaking what Ronald Reagan did."

Also, it quotes Gov. Cuomo's 1984 convention speech: "There is despair, Mr. President, in faces you never see, in places you never visit. Maybe if you visited more places, Mr. President, you'd understand."
