Oscar Celebrates the World Entertainment Capitol--New Zealand!

"It's a clean sweep!"
--Steven Spielberg, spilling the beans that LOTR had won the Best Picture award

Impeach Bush! That would be ABC's talking (air)head Billy Bush, who badgered the stars with his inane questions, did tired Uma-Oprah gags and got way too chummy with everyone, from Scarlett Johansson to Keisha Castle-Hughes.

Weren't They Supposed to Bleep Out the Bad Language? Who wrote Alphabet Network pre-show host Chris Connelly's script? We just want to know where he got cool words like "epical," "stiffish competish" and "Oscar nominatable."

...snip....

Longest-Held Breath: That had to be the tape-delay person during Tim Robbins' speech, when, after thanking his fellow nominees, castmembers and family, he said the words no censor ever wants to hear: "I would like to say one more thing..." Though he didn't make a political statement, Robbins did urge the victims of abuse to come forward to get help. Leftie jerk.

Tie: Best Self-Deflating Joke and/or Best Wish Fulfillment: Depending on your point of view, Michael Moore's cameo--in which the firebrand rails against the "fictitious war" waged in The Lord of the Rings before getting crushed by an elephant--was either hilarious or a dream come true.

....snip....

"Forty years ago, this country went down a rabbit hole in Vietnam and millions died. I fear we're going down a rabbit hole again."
--Erroll Morris, whose The Fog of War won the documentary award
