47. I've always thought the idea of deniability factored into this somehow
Thinking back to Iran-Contra, how Bush Sr. kept having to say he was "out of the loop," and how lame it sounded, makes me think that Cheney, or whoever had the most intelligence on the threat, still didn't want to know too much so he could have a lot of deniability.

We've seen how they have the ability to put their heads in the sand about things and focus only on what they want. It would still amount to an evil act, but stuff like that goes on all the time. For example, it seems to me, if the press had done their job about the Iraq war, we might not have even had it and there wouldn't be all these dead and maimed people, but they put their heads in the sand because they wanted the money.
