14. Agreed.
"I'm sorry for how you feel" is no apology.

It's like saying "Gee, it's a shame I beat you up, and I'm sorry that now you feel crummy", or "Gee, it's a shame I didn't do my job and then thousands lost their lives and many more thousands lost their livelihoods". "Gee, I'm sorry someone else made me abuse my position, and all those people were so horrifically injured."

How's about, "Gee, I'm sorry everyone is so mad about George and his wars and stuff like that. I know you feel bad about it. I'm sorry for how you feel."

I am not now feeling very kindly towards Ms. Rice.
