3. We were living in Wichita at that time
Yesterday's paper sent a chill down our spines. We lived off base, as did most non-commissioned military families, and couldn't afford a security system.

We were instructed to leave the front door open, our shoes/coat on and check the phone line immediately when arriving home. If the phone line was dead we were told to run out of the house. I believe these instructions originated from the Wichita Police Dept.

The PT's on base offered personal safety/defense classes for the wifes. Scary stuff back then. I hope they catch the sick sob.
