 This is Sherwood Boehlert's (R-chameleon) district. It encompasses all of Herkimer County, which probably has the lowest population density of any county in the state, picks up the lower 2/3 of Oneida Co. (Utica/Rome area), and swings south nearly to Binghampton (being careful not to include any of the liberals who live there), around Syracuse (ditto), and picking up a sizeable chunk of the Finger Lakes wine country, including Auburn and Geneva, but neatly excluding the liberal oasis of Ithaca (the "finger" of Tompkins Co. not colored green). Can't have any Democrats campaigning against Sherry at Cornell, can we? Edit: Here's a more dialup-friendly version of the map. |
