Yes, McCain is a Republican and therefore "campaigning" for Bush. But, it is obvious to anyone that reads his statements or watches his interviews that he has reservations and personal issues with the man. He voices criticism of him and his administration so often that his own party has disavowed him. Speaker Hastert told a reporter that he had never heard of McCain and that McCain wasn't a Republican.

Currently (this week) McCain is one of only four Republican senators that is battling against Bush right now over the budget and the tax cut vs deficit issue. He is voting against Bush's wishes.

McCain was the only Republican to seriously question Rumsfeld during the commission on Abu Gharib.

I could go on and on. You are wrong. McCain has not "kowtowed" to Bush's every whim. Check out his voting record.

Bush would NEVER choose McCain. McCain is a thorn in his side.

If he dumps Cheney, he's going to go with someone like Guiliani.
