If this be the case, the TV bits I've seen of his photo-op with the Pope are clearly indicative of his intense dislike for said Pope. Stiff, erect, defensive posture throughout. Forced, sustained blank expression. Stiff movements while maintaining maximum possible distance when performing traditional "abeyances." Shrub is a born-again evangelical protestant something-or-other. This group is pretty consistent across the board in viewing the Catholic Pope as the most likely reprenstative of the anti-Christ (if not the anti-Christ himself). I have no religious affiliation myself, but I am ever mindful of the fact that - for "true" believers - religion IS politics, whether Christian or Muslim or Hindu or... ad nauseum...

This is what makes impossible civilised, humane discourse on human affairs.
