Hasn't David Beckwith (Texas/GOP) said other racially insensitive things [View All]

I have heard of this guy before and I think he said something racial back then. Can anyone help me? What do you know about him? Am I imagining this?

Dewhurst's spokesman apologizes for remarks

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A spokesman for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst apologized in writing Tuesday for remarks in which he sarcastically linked Democrats boycotting the Texas Senate with civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks.

Spokesman David Beckwith made the comments Monday, after Democrats filed a federal court suit alleging that a Republican-led congressional redistricting effort violates minority voting rights.

According to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Beckwith said 11 Democratic senators who fled to New Mexico to prevent Senate action on redistricting planned to stay just a few days and "declare victory."

Instead, Beckwith said, "they got captured by the Democratic National Committee blowing smoke up their rears and telling them what great Americans they were. So now they've gone from making a statement to `doing the right thing.' They think they are Rosa Parks II."
