I can only suppose it is brainwashing in churches. They have to believe with 'faith' and not question the why of anything. It is 'blind faith' and ill begotten but to them it shows they have faith. They are taught to argue with quotes from the bible as if it makes what they say right....
They use guilt, taunting, and shame to communicate....
