Beside that, if I need to just plop for a few minutes, I'll flip around and find something that doesn't remind me too much of the current corruption of American culture -- which usually turns out to be Animal Planet.

But there's almost nothing I actively want to watch. There don't even seem to be many good science and technology shows any more.

My husband and son both still watch more than I do, so we're not about to ditch the cable. But I swear that if they push through this all-digital thing in 2006, I will be very reluctant to upgrade.
