Sure, she made a terrible mistake. But many women, young and old, are drawn that way to powerful, married men. Bill was very vulnerable at the time, and also made a terrible error in judgement.
I still don't feel the offense, as well as the perjury, were grounds for impeachment. Many other elected officials lied even worse to the country and the courts. Nixon, for one, got away with it thanks to a pardon.
This whole thing started as an investigation of a bad real estate deal (Whitewater) where the Clintons got snookered by James McDougal. They lost money on it, and the only one who broke the law there was Mr. McDougal. It mushroomed into questionable accusations by a vindictive golddigger (Paula Jones), a house cleaning of a corrupt government organization (travel office), Vince Foster's death (an obvious suicide of a man who became frustrated with the evils of federal politics), and many other things. The Starr investigation is one of the sleaziest witch hunts in American history, it was basically the practice of "throw everything against the wall and see if it sticks". They hit paydirt with a stupid blowjob, and milked it for all it's worth, not caring about who they destroyed along the way, even Ms. Lewinsky.
Ken Starr is a vile, corrupt, evil human being. And he was supported by even more vile, corrupt human beings like Richard Sciafe, Linda Tripp, Lucianne Goldberg, Newt Gingrich (who cheated on TWO wives), Bob Barr, and the rest of the pathetic lot. Eventually the tide will completely turn in Clinton's favor. The bastards in Congress who tried to bring him down are nobodys now due to their own hypocricy (bye bye Newt and Bob).
Monica Lewinsky is not a bad person. She was stupid in getting involved with Bill Clinton, and I'm sure she feels terrible about the whole ordeal.
Let's hope we never have another "Special Prosecutor Law". It may have served a purpose during the Watergate controversy, but it spiralled out of control and became as Clinton claimed "a fourth branch of government". This should not be. And I'm glad the law died a quick, quiet death. It brings a bad precedent, even if used for our current president. I'd hate to see an ongoing internal war within our government.
