First, let me remind all that many people in this country vote against their own self-interests because of corrupt media and the following reasons which also apply to teachers:
• The political pulpit (most frequent reason for teachers)
• fear of the other (foreign and domestic)
• anti-intellectual
• Rush etal
• taxes and guns (I heard this from many students..."Al Gore is gonna take our guns away and raise taxes")
• Gore's association with Clinton
• They are pressured and unhappy in the classroom...if things are not going well, the republican meme is to "blame the dems."
