I think the story of the earlier incident is that the two soldiers were in a humvee and were kidnapped and later killed. This was reported at the time. There was concern that the humvee might be used to stage some kind of attack.

When I saw the headline "missing soldiers found" I immediately thought of these two soldiers (because that would make no sense, especially since the Pentagon reported that their bodies had been found).

But these were two different incidents. The "hoax" reported in this latest story, from what I can figure out, was the result of some Iraqis getting hold of the identification cards of two soldiers and claiming that they had been captured when, turns out, they weren't.
