13. we got the door to door pamphlets
on Christmas EVE! I called the recruiter (cell phone listed) and gave him a good cuss out. There are 140 apartments in my complex. I've made sure that EVERY minor is registered as a "do not contact" through the school system. Recruiter tried to defend his action by saying that one high school student in our neighborhood was considering enlisting and that he had lots of interested friends. This was the recruiter's way of contacting them. I tracked down the one student who had spoken with this recruiter -- he wasn't really planning to enlist, just couldn't shake the guy. I had him call and dump the shark. This is a HUD housing complex and I asked the recruiter if he was planning to spend the next day (Christmas) passing out pamphlets door-to-door in the neighborhood a few blocks away (uber-rich, incorporated tax-haven village). nope. I asked for written apologies to the parents of all 47 young men and women of high school age that had signed up for the "do not contact" list and was told the letters would be forthcoming....yeah, sure.

peace
