There's plenty to criticise in his reaction - telling judges they shouldn't go by the established court methods, but follow the current public mood (even his wife made a public speech criticising Tony for that); proposing lengthening the time they can hold terrorist suspects before charging them from 2 weeks to 3 months; bringing in a law to outlaw condoning or glorifying terrorism. He's taking full advantage of wht he sees as a swing in public mood to push authoritarian acts that got rejected earlier.
