44. Yeah, it sounds like something is definitely up, what with the Fitzgerald
investigation, Bush approval rating tanking in the 30's, and CNN telling the truth (or some of it). Hm-m-m. Wonder what it is. I think maybe they need to put a War Democrat in there to straighten out the colossal mess Bush and them have made of everything, to run a better war in the Middle East, to get a draft, and to manage the breadlines (and maybe put down the riots). Any given Democrat--even the worst of them, from our point of view--is more competent than these bozos, who are only good at lying, and seem to have collapsed in that department as well. Then, when the War Democrat has extended the war profiteering for four more years, and doesn't really straighten much of anything out--just keeps those tax dollars shoveling off to Buffalo the way they have been--and maybe, with a tighter "I feel your pain" squeeze on the poor, even creates a little surplus they can come in and loot, they'll kick the War Democrat out and give us Jeb.

Nothing's going to change until we throw Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia voting machines (and all their ilk--with the secret, proprietary programming code, owned by Bushites) into 'Boston Harbor' and start counting people's votes for real once again.

Mark my words. War Democrat shoved down our throats, on a promise to "bring the troops home" some time or another, and NOT to loot Social Security.

--------

Best solution: Paper ballots, hand-counted at the precinct level. (They do it in Canada in one day--but speed should not even be a consideration, only accuracy and verifiability.)

or, at the least...

Paper ballot (not "paper trail") backup of all electronic voting, a 10% or better automatic recount, very strict security and NO SECRET, PROPRIETARY PROGRAMMING CODE, and NO PARTISAN BUSHITE COMPANIES INVOLVED IN ANY WAY.

NOW!

----------

A little caveat: After the major looting by the rich and the illegal fascist wars during the Reagan junta, Bill Clinton--who didn't have much of a taste for fascist wars (a plus for him)--got elected on promises to, a) insure labor and environmental protections in NAFTA, GATT and the other free piracy agreements; b) regularize the status of gays in the Military, and c) pass a national health care plan. He was not long in office before all of these promises were broken and/or forgotten. You could blame the rightwing but I don't think so. I think the promises were just game-playing. Clinton was chosen by Time magazine (the Corporate Rulers). I remember it well. Nice photo, at the BEGINNING of the primaries. Just as they did with Schwarzenegger during the phony recall election (as if Schwarzenegger needed the publicity!). And Clinton--my guy, I voted for him, twice--was the one responsible for the outsourcing of millions of jobs, the loss of our manufacturing base, and the proliferation of sweatshops worldwide--as well as for increases in pollution and global warming. Not Bush. Clinton. By signing the trade agreements with NO labor or environmental protections. All Bush had to do, from the point of view of the super-rich, was to keep it all going--and destroy the last shreds of our internal U.S. corporate regulation. (--to which the Bush Cartel added war profiteering and slaughtering and torturing Arabs, and outing CIA agents; possibly fatal mistakes).

The caveat: Beware of Democrats in anti-Bush clothing. And get on that Diebold thing, my friends--NOW! We can't do anything about any of this until we restore our right to vote.
