2. The pressure of more and more people
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 02:57 AM by shraby
protesting the war plays on the minds of politicians who want to get re-elected. Enough people with enough pressure will put an end to the war, just like during Vietnam. Politicians have one goal in life and that's re-election. Nothing else matters.

One difference between Nam and now is during Nam the majority of protestors were college aged kids and younger which were easier for the pols to ignore. This time it's those same kids only grown to adults with children and grand-children plus the college aged. With the adult addition, the protests are peaceful but absolutely as determined to make a change. That cannot be ignored. With a catalyst like Cindy, it can only grow to immense proportions. To a politician, that's a scary sight.
