Religion may be similarly tempting to him. The way Sy Hersh describes it, Bush is the messiah in his little religious play. I mean- it's not as if he assumes the role of the humble, penetant Christian.

So perhaps we can paraphrase one of his earlier statements. 'Religion would be a heck of alot easier- so long as I'm the messiah'.

Know what I mean?
