Because the hispanic culture is by in large, gentle, generous and accepting.

I've grown up with one foot in that culture and one foot in the mainstream.

It is impolite in Hispanic culture to say "NO" in any form.

This may lead to you asking multiple people in Guadalajara where you can purchase an opal ring. Now, if the people you ask don't know the answer, they will make up directions -- turn right, two blocks, turn left. Because it would be incredibly rude to say, "I don't know."

Those terrible al Qaida nannies and gardeners.
