55. A reminder though:
Please, please consider donating to the small groups that did SO much for the abandoned Katrina pets, rather than to HSUS, which took in tens of millions ... and did so little.



Lantos is my representative. I called his offices when the Katrina pets still had a chance. I was told of the legislation that Lantos had helped to introduce (H.R. 3538), which would benefit pets during future disasters. I asked, "What about the animal victims of Katrina? What will you do for them?" No one could give me an answer.

The government on all levels, from local to state to federal, did NOTHING. There were laws, policies and guidelines in place to help the animals, but they weren't implemented. These babies were totally abandoned. Similar to the government's abandonment of the people ... only worse.
