What is so difficult about this? Sure, we need touchscreens to automate and make the process efficient, but why not a 3 way system?
Use touchscreen and local print the results. Feed the results into an optical scanner.
Results validated if: Touchscreen = Optical = Paper
What I find odd is why these voting machine companies aren't agreeing with a printer function.
(1) It takes the heat off of system errors.
(2) It adds a logical revenue stream to their sales. They are interested in making money, right?
