2. We have not been reminded nor schooled enough on this topic...
It is a number one tenet of our country, yet I do not remember having it drilled into our heads enough in schoo, nor taught the importance of its passing from one generation to the next. We have come to rely too much on our leaders, to do the job of governing. The founding Fathers never saw the decreasing time allotment of each of us, in this fast paced, all too often faceless technological era. We have lost the human element that is inherent to the idea of "We" as in "we the people".
Having said that, I have great faith that the internet is allowing us to have that connection again. Perhaps this moment was needed to reinstate our responsibility to the constitution. For too long we have not acted as the holders of the Constitution and we ourselves have treated it as a piece of paper, as opposed to the living statement of a continuing society. This is our wake up call as to its fragility and strength. Will we act as a nation to protect and demand it? I can't say yes, but I do not rule out the option of it still being a possibility. I know through this nightmare I have become convinced ofmy rights and others. I will never give permission to take them away, nor silence my opposition.
