6. Impeachable, but not treason
Treason implies an attempt to advance the interests of another group at the expense of America. There is an element of betrayal involved, and I think that would be difficult to establish here. Hmmm ... Plamegate approaches treason ... betrayal of national interest to further the political ambitions of the Republican Party.

However, if it is ever established that this was but a part of a systematic effort to usurp the Constitution, I would probably have to revise my opinion.

It is more likely (given what we can firmly establish now) that this is merely another example of Bushista imperial arrogance ... in any case it seems to be a violation of established law. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed throwing the "rule of law" riff back in the face of my right wing acquaintances and relatives in recent days.

And when I say, as they did back when the issue was Clinton's apparent perjury, the question is, "Will we continue to have rule of law or not?", they get very quiet and uncomfortable. I would push that meme, rather than the possible hyperbole (and much hard to swallow) treason line.
