69. Greetings from the belly of the beast
:hi:

I'm still buzzing (but aching and exhausted) over here in the DC area, thinking about the sight of those tens of thousands of people filling the streets to try to make a difference. Of course, the Shrub decided to make a trip to Camp David, so that he could cover his ears and say "nanny, nanny boo-boo, I can't hear you."

To the DUers I met and those that I missed seeing, thanks for giving a crap. :grouphug: Hope we can do it again sometime, though I also hope that someday we won't have to take to the streets in rebellion.

Some of my personal highlights:

Hanging with DUers, whether at dinner, on the Mall, on the march, or relaxing at Oaf of Office's and prolesunited's suite. (Sorry I couldn't stay for the pizza, but my energy was flagging.) There's something to be said about a group of people who can simultaneously converse about inane topics as well as complicated policy issues, all while keeping one eye on C-SPAN on the TV and grazing like locusts.

The Code Pink pink slip, just frick' huge, flying about 100 feet off the ground from an office building window.

The creativity shown in the signs and banners, costumes, and other signs of mobilization.

The Raging Grannies cracked my ass up, and a dead soldier's father left a lump in my throat.

Prolesunited deserves special thanks (or, as some say, mad props) for managing to herd all of us together before and during the event. :yourock: The name tags were a great touch.
