8. Freedom: Its all about who is defining the freedom
If we had rolled into Iraq under flags bearing a star and a crescent we may well have been welcomed as heroes. Instead we came in under the stars and stripes.
Our freedom may not be the Iraqi's sense of freedom. If that is the case then we are not their liberators. We are their new oppressors. By trying to force them into a freedom of our defintion we are imposing our culture and identity upon them. And no culture gladdly suffers the destruction of its identity.
