I think I need to lay off politics for a while! [View All]

Earlier tonight, I took a 90-minute nap, during which time I had the weirdest goddamned dream I've had in at least five years.

The dream involved the Bush brothers, George W and Jeb. Except they weren't merely crooked politicians--they were comic book-styled supervillians!

George was dressed in a suit kind of like Iron Man's (except without the cowl) and was able to make stalks of flame shoot out of his fingertips. Meanwhile, Jeb was able to stretch his arms, legs and neck several dozen yards like Plastic Man or that guy in the Fantastic Four.

Then there was me, except I wasn't really me--I was Spider-Man, and I was doing battle with the Bush supervillians! Assisting me was political satirist Mark Russell, except that he kept singing Tom Lehrer songs rather than his own material.

But you know what really sucked? Ol' Mark and I were kicking some serious GOP ass (I was damned good with that webbing, if I say so myself!) when some asshole in the rear parking lot of my apartment building set off his car alarm. I was jolted out of my slumber and never found out who won the battle.

What can I say, folks? I think I've immersed myself waaaaaay too deeply in early 21st century American politics. Perhaps I ought to pull back for a while? Problem is, the right-wingers won't pull back....
