3. ...and so I thought we would have this quiet contemplative evening.
A nice warm bath. Cocoa. A reading of "If You Take a Mouse to School" and "My First Day of Kindergarten. Soft rocking in the chair I got when oldest was a baby, and reassurances of how much I loved him.

It started out great. Got the bath going, he growled that the "wrong" toys were added. I got soap (tearless) in his eyes, he stuck his tongue out at me. I tried to towel him off, he can "do it myself". He ran to Dad...I sat on a mound of damp towels wondering what the hell happened to my sweet soft baby boy.

On to getting the backpack together. He wasn't interested. I put the "supplies" (a bottle of hand disinfectant, a box of tissue and a folder-even though they told us they didn't need one) Boy supplies have changed. I laid out his clothes (pressed for the very first time since he was born) Bare with me, I'm going a little nuts here and it seemed like a good idea at the time. His sister comes in and tells me how much I am going to wreck his social prospects by dressing him gorky(?)-see shopping post for more about sister and embarassment.

Anyway, all set...prep done...ready to cuddle my boy for the last time before he becomes a kindergartner. Grab book, grab coffee, grab son...and he's out already. Pick up son, put to bed. Boy I cannot wait for tomorrow.
