I received the books by Robert Monroe as a gift, and having nothing better to do, I practiced the techniques in the back of the book. 2 weeks later, I did it.
It must've been beginners luck, because I've only done it a few times since my lucky first OOBE.
My first one happened in May of 2002, and it was really fucking cool (but also kinda scary). It felt good to be free of physical constraints, though. Flying was easier than walking. :)
I wish I could do it consistently, but I'll probably have to wait until I'm unemployed again so that I can practice. (Either that, or find work that isn't spiritually crushing :P ).
