3. At least he was smart enough to call 911 when the boy began

"bleeding profusely." I've got to give him credit for that, despite what seems to me to be real stupidity about the circumcision. It indicates he cares about the boy enough to get medical help. It sounds as if the boy wasn't hurt too badly, too. The urologist who treated him said he just closed the wound rather than complete the circumcision.

The article makes clear that these people are living outside the system, all their children having been born in an old van on their property, not in a hospital, so I'd think medical help is something they haven't sought before, at least not often. His wife is supposedly pregnant with her 10th child. If that means he has delivered nine babies, I guess he had reason to think he could manage doing a circumcision and maybe he could have managed to circumcise an 8 day old infant rather than an 8 year old boy.

Too bad he didn't contact a local synagogue for help from the people who really know something about doing ritual circumcision at home. I'd think they'd have told him the operation on an 8 year-old requires a medical doctor.

Moral: Follow your briss.
