These days, it seems, there are few 'celebrities' who are not manufactured from some blueprint. Sure, there's always been some of that, but it's an epidemic now, with graduates of some overhyped "Star Search" and various putrid 'reality' shows (I married a transvestite, yak-molesting, cannibal millionaire for the cash prizes...ask me anything) vying with cynically slapped-together boy- and girl-bands for public adoration courtesy of focus group-driven PR and management campaigns.

It sucks. J-Lo's just one symptom, and she's arguably done way more that's real and substantial than most of the others of her ilk. Not that that's saying much.
