The team looked and played old - Clemmens is gone - Wells will be gone; Pettie will be gone - that leaves Mussina and bunch of guys - I dont' think there are 3 starters like that out there in the market -here is no bull pen - closer notwithstanding - Gamibi (sp?) broke down this year as did Jeter (twice). Stienbrenner has gutted the farm system (again) to trade for vets. So there is no joy there.

The offense (as the Marlins showed as did the Angels last year) remains spotty.

So they need three starters and at least another rbi man. And a bull pen. And start to think about life after williams and Jeter

That's the formula for a long long season next year - esp if George has the expected hissy fit and fires Torre and Cashman and decides to revamp the team his way.
