Given that most dates involve the consumption of food.

I have no problem at all with vegetarians or vegans, and have a strong admiration for them knowing the extent to which they do have to go to avoid meat products. However, I'm perfectly satisfied that consumption of meat is ethical, and a meal with somebody telling me that the meat on my plate is wrong would just be too bad, and get me majorly pissed.

My basic philosophy in life is 'what-ever floats your boat', and so I could happily date a moderate Republican (given my inclinations a more extreme one is unlikely to be making advances to me) as long as he didn't push his opinions on me - so too I could date a vegan under the same circumstances, but one who told me to stop eating that which it is perfectly natural and normal for a human to eat would be a definite no-no.
