73. I was and still am a fan
And he did do all the things you say. His greatest talent is knowing what people want to hear and giving them it on a solver platter. He spends a great deal of money on production.

I agree he has become self-centered during the past year, but that is because it sells. People want to hear about his life. TO be honest, it is a real live soap opera with the mansion apartment, the model girlfriend and the money he makes.

The fcc did slow him down. After the first settlement he stopped doing many great bits and others were only let by once. the "its just wrong" thing is one of the funniest things I have ever heard, though it only ran once. Without the fcc on his ass, I expect the fire to return.

As for his taking credit for anything entertaining, I think you are overstating the case, but many of what you state are true. He was the first national show to use in-studio acoustic material. He was doing this when MTV still played videos in the early 80s. He claimed ot invent the Ozzy MTV show because in 1993 he told OZZY And Sharon their life would make a great TV show and he would produce it, but it felt through. What I think he gets the most angry about is other comedians taking his stuff, which is considered a sacrilege to comedians. Jay Leno stole jaywalking from stern and stole the homeless game from him. If leno stole that from letterman their would be a lawsuit, and stern has 5 times the audience leno and 10 time the audience letterman has every day.

You are insane if you think Howard has little concern for billy west. Stern has reached out to billie on and off air for almost seven years now. The Jackie Martling issue was more complex. Stern was walked out on, which no one does. He was hurt and called the bluff, Jackie was given time to come back and he thought he was too important.

I also think you have selective memory on the o&a history. I am a big fan of both and we bought XM just to get O&A and will put sirius in my other car to get howard (i wish they were ont eh same system) so I am a fan of both and don;t want to talk bad about either, but they were both (all three) assholes in this regard. Howard reacted as any no. 1 does to serious competition, and O&A were the only serious competition howard ever had. He fought to keep his spot as No.1. His show got better. This is when "Its just wrong" and "the tickle chair" debuted. Howard stepped up to the best challenge he ever faced. O&A stepped up in response and they had a great time fighting him. They fucked up and went over the line with the St. Pats bs, but their XM show is great as ever and will compete with Stern. Anyway, there was plenty of blame to go around for the bad blood, but I think it was good reason, it made both shows better.

Anyway, on to Sirius...
