It's hard to say if I regret it or not. The dentist said I needed it to line up my bite. I guess if I had not had it done I'd have problems. However, because I had it done, I have problems - I'm sure of it. A few years after having the surgery, I developed bad headaches and have had them on and off ever since (16 years now). I also now have TMJ in the form of jaw spasms (only every now and then but they suck when they happen). And I have to sleep with a retainer now so I don't clench my teeth too hard. I also can't feel parts of my chin (it's not a problem except that if I dribble food, I can't always feel it - so now I wipe my chin a lot).

My dentist says that there is a good chance I would have had these problems without the surgery because my teeth would not have lined up. So was it worth it? Can't say. I know it was expensive (I was in high school at the time so my parents paid for it).

Do your research - something I did not do as I was young and trusted everyone involved.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
