Existential question about, and REALLY stupid suggestion for the Journals.

Given that the Journals are intended to be a repository for our bits of wisdom, humor, malapropism, or general cussedness that should be of continuing interest to other DUers, why then are we ourselves the arbiters of the suitability of a given post for inclusion in that repository? Should not the consumers of our bits of wisdom, etc be better-qualified to make such determinations?

That's the Existential Question. Here comes the Really Stupid Suggestion:

If the Existential Question is valid (yeah, right), why then shouldn't the admins tie themselves in knots, drive themselves crazy, and incur backbreaking software expenses to add a function similar to the "recommend for the Greatest Page" function, so that the READERS of our posts could "nominate" the posts for inclusion in our respective Journals, with (for example) ten clicks of the "Hey, Put This In Your Journal" option automatically adding the post in question?

We're democratic here after all, aren't we? Power to the People! It's time to break the tyrranical powers of the authors, and let the readers decide!

Redstone

(Admins: I'm being silly here. It's that kind of night.)
