HooBOY that Forrest Gump really got himself into a pickle this time

:bounce: <---this is my one-liner that I thought of while watching the movie. Pretty good so far, no?

I hadn't read the book....didn't need to Tom Hanks and Ian McKellen read it to me. Only took 2 1/2 hours.

Okay half the movie was in subtitles and the poor French woman's role consisted mainly of saying "really?" and looking like she once again just learned something new.

The story itself was very interesting and there are details in the book that aren't in the movie (the Pagan ritual). I can see why it was so popular as a book and how it could really be a page turner.

Basically the dialog is the narrative. There is nothing left for you to assume or surmise everything you might possibly need to know is told to you. The audience does get a few chances to guess ahead as to what is going to happen next-some were pretty obvious some weren't until right before they happened. Tom Hanks mostly was just Tom Hanks with a Lenny Leonard haircut as his role was to just walk you through the story. Ron Howard as usual was fantastic with some massive Crusade and ancient Rome scenes that were a lot of trouble to go through for only 10-20 second on screen at a time.

I wouldn't recommend the movie.

Lenny Leonard
