2. Professional drag race crew chief and engine builder
Super Stocks. Traveled all over the country 1971 till 1977. Was part of the Truppi/Kling garage for Claude Urevig (now deceased) Running a SS/EA Chevelle 1970 LS6 auto convertible originally owned by Ray Allen (yes, the same one restored to street condition that went for $1 Mil at the auction last year). Ray had won the World Championship in SS in 1970 and sold the car to Claude in '71. It set some records while we ran it but never won a National event. Won a couple of points meets though. Claude sold it to someone in Canada and tried Corvettes in SS/C, but got sick from lung cancer and lost a lung. He died in the early Eighties. And he only smoked True Blue's.

Then hooked up with John (my mind blanked his last name as I write this) who was a friend of mine who owned a gas station in Wyckoff NJ. We built a '68 Corvette in '73 to fit the SS/EA class. The car won 4 national events from '75 to '77 and a bunch of points meets and set dozens of National records. Then he sold the car and moved up to Super Comp and we split up.

I had a GREAT time racing. But the work was intense and took up every free moment we weren't working.
