S.O. left a crappy job (decent benefits, but insane fundie boss) for a great one, which lasted 8 months due to a political hatchet job.

I took a job I shouldn't have, just to get insurance (the s.o.'s new gig was contract with no bennies); the job sucks and the insurance is about as bad.

We're about to file for bankruptcy - wish we'd done it last year before they changed the rules.

Lost one of my big clients in my business, indirectly leading to my considering the sucky job above in the first place.

S.O. and I both suffering from depression. Not making it easier for s.o. to find another job.

The foundation of the house we bought last year is turning into ritz cracker crumbs, and the engineer who certified it won't do a damn thing.

We've burned through all our savings and retirement $$.

That's the short version. I don't have much hope for next year either. :(
