1. because a phone is not a toy...

it's not intended to be used to tell me about your day, or what the guy in line behind you at the taco bell said, or what strange thing is growing in your front yard...it's to convey basic information.

The ideal phone call goes something like this:
"hey"
"hey, what time?"
"7, maybe a little later."
"cool"

and that's that.
