That's where we're at now.

I was there with her as long as I could be today. I put my hands on her chest and spent quite a bit of time visualizing and verbalizing positive repetition. I kept telling her "don't worry honey, don't be scared. Everything's gonna be ok. This is just another step in your journey and you're gonna fight this thing. You have the strength, you have the will, you have the love, your body has the capability, to start fighting this thing off. This virus has been there long enough honey. It's rented out your lungs but it's time to kick it out. Take your lungs back. They're YOUR lungs. You can fight this honey, and you'll be home huggin the kids in no time. Right here and now honey, right here and now we're gonna stop that virus dead in its tracks. It's time to take your body back. This pneumonia is gonna grow no more. You can do it honey. You have the strength and ability to do it. You'll be home before you know it. Time to kick this thing in the katoochis! (like she said in the video)" etc etc. I kept repeating stuff like that. I was talking to the virus too, telling it that it has run it's course but it's time for it to leave. That they're HER lungs and the virus isn't welcome there any more. I told it that it has no idea what's comin, and that it's days are numbered. I told it to just pack up and leave.

I did that for a while, and for a while I just rested my hands on her. Things are going to take a miracle now, folks, but why not? They've happened before, and I'm praying they happen here.

They had me in a big board room today, and her entire team of doctors were in there. They gave me the jist of the situation and how bad it is. Right now, her liver's not doing great, her kidneys ain't doin great, and her lungs can't take much more. Her saturation is only 90 and the ventilator is as high as it can go. If this thing keeps getting worse, as it has each day, then that's basically gonna be it. Her lungs can't handle getting much worse. And once her saturation drops more, there's nothing they can do but watch the inevitable circumstance of her organs beginning to fail. But hopefully it doesn't get to that.

They briefed me on our last chance, though a long shot. They consulted with literally the best expert in the WORLD on adenovirus today, and he said that there's not much more that can be done. The only thing left is to give her an anti-viral called cidofivor. There is no clinical proof that this stuff will have any effect whatsoever. All use of it is anecdotal only, but it's worth a shot. Problem is, there's a 90% chance it's gonna kill her kidneys, since she's already in acute renal failure. I had to sign off on that, and it has my blessing. If she's on dialysis the rest of her life, we'll deal with that. As long as there's a 'rest of her life'. I'll worry about all the secondary risks then. But this cidofivor is her last real chance. We need a miracle here. We need a miracle for this stuff to help turn things around.

She also got a chest tube inserted and the procedure went well. They said immediately there was 500cc's of fluid that went everywhere. Not sure how much the draining will help, but we need whatever time we can buy right now.

So that's it folks. Things ain't goin so hot and clinically there's almost no sign that she can make it through this. But it ain't over yet. We need a miracle, and I'm prayin my heart out for one. Please join me.

Again, for anyone who hasn't seen them yet, here's the links to two short videos of her on her journey while fighting her breast cancer.

Thanks for hanging in there with me, and thank you for your prayers.
